Ah, here's something that'll take up a bit of space, a link to the official Festival Of Speed website. Basically the Festival Of Speed is one big time-trial up the driveway of the stately Goodwood House. Started in 1993, a range of different cars, from the new to the (sometimes very) old try to set the record for the hill climb. Of course, if they wanted to the modern Formula 1 cars would probably win it hands down, so they choose to do a bit of show-boating instead and provide the entertainment.
Every year a number of Formula 1 teams turn up, and you can usually find Jenson Button and (God help us) David Coulthard somewhere in there. One of the best parts of the experience is to wander through the F1 paddock as they are testing their engines (or, again, maybe they're just showing off). It would go some way to explaining why my hearing doesn't seem to be as good as it once was.
