Work
January, 2005, I'm not working, I have a large sum of cash at my disposal, and that's just begging for a holiday really isn't it? So off I pop to Rome for a week of culture and sight-seeing. Hey, sometimes it's good to be that unashamed tourist, armed with map and camera. I'm not sure I have done so much walking in one week, or avoided being in any kind of vehicle for such a long period of time. I am still trying to seek forgiveness from my feet.

I'll have to come clean a bit here and say that my choice of Rome as a destination was slightly motivated by having recently read 'Angels and Demons' by Dan Brown. I guess I just wanted to see some of the places talked about in the books and to see how accurate he had been. Those with a good memory and who have read the book will be able to recognise some of the places in my photographs from the novel, notably Piazza Navona, Castel St Angel, and of course the Vatican itself. Actually, turns out Mr Brown did embelish slightly and certain things talked about in the book just aren't possible. But then it is just a work of fiction, right?
